Our Programs

Natural Resources Management Technology

This two-year diploma program emphasizes interrelationships among natural resources including forests, water, fish, and wildlife.

Law Enforcement Program

This is a 10-month preparatory program for adults who are looking at a career in law enforcement. The main focus is on preparing students to gain employment for policing and corrections. UCN Law Enforcement enjoys close ties with RCMP, Manitoba First Nations Police Service and Manitoba Corrections. Recent graduates of this program have also enjoyed success gaining employment in other related fields, such as Sheriffs, Probation Officers, Court Clerks and First Nations Security Officers.

IT Support Technician

The ITST program provides hands-on training in computer hardware, software, networking, and technical support while preparing students for the CompTIA A+ certification.

Intro To Construction Trades

The Intro to Construction Trades Program provides learners with the entry level knowledge needed to gain employment and be effective as new hire in the construction industry.

InTeRN (Information Technology Readiness North)

Join us for a globally recognized IT experience. The InTeRN program prioritizes hands-on experience to give you an excellent foundation for a career in IT. The program is tailored to and accepts applications from Indigenous women. InTeRN is a 10-month, entry-level, hands-on tech program that teaches outcome-based information technology through computer refurbishment and industry-recognized certification exams. You will thrive in this program if you are interested in computers. You will maximize your knowledge, skills and abilities required for employment as an Information Technology Support Technician.

Heavy Duty Mechanics

Start your career in one of Canada’s most in-demand trades with our 10-month Heavy-Duty Mechanic Pre-Employment Program. Designed for hands-on learners, this program provides the foundational skills, knowledge, and real-world experience needed to begin an apprenticeship and enter the workforce with confidence.

Culinary Arts

This 40-week program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills in Culinary Arts and prepare students for employment in this field. The students will be working and cooking food in the UCN cafeteria.

Automotive Service Technician

Start your career in the automotive industry with our 10-month hands-on preemployment automotive service technician program.

Basic Electrical

This program is designed to teach the student the skills and knowledge required to become employed in a variety of jobs in the electrical field. It will also prepare the student for studies in related technologies.

Each course within the program will have curriculum related to occupational safety and health, and both theory and practical components of the program will emphasize knowledge and practices for a safe workplace.​

Carpentry/Woodworking

This one-year program is designed to provide the student with basic carpentry knowledge and the skills to gain employment in the construction field. Students will learn all phases of the woodworking and building construction trades.
Courses include blueprint reading, hand tool and machine woodworking, framing, concrete forming, roofing, interior and exterior finishing, cabinet making and stair building, CNC wood processing, as well as a work practicum.

Industrial Welding

This program is designed to teach the student the skills to become employed as a welding operator, welder's helper or an apprentice. This program is heavily oriented towards hands-on experience. The practical portion of the program includes arc welding, oxyacetylene welding, brazing, G.M.A.W., G.T.A.W. and arc-air. The fundamentals of proper tool and equipment usage are also covered.
Each course within the program will have curriculum related to occupational safety and health, and both theory and practical components of the program will emphasize knowledge and practices for a safe workplace.

Apprenticeship Training

Apprenticeship is a training program that leads to certification as a journeyperson in more than 50 trades and sub-trades designated in Manitoba.
