This is a 10-month preparatory program for adults who are looking at a career in law enforcement. The main focus is on preparing students to gain employment for policing and corrections. UCN Law Enforcement enjoys close ties with RCMP, Manitoba First Nations Police Service and Manitoba Corrections. Recent graduates of this program have also enjoyed success gaining employment in other related fields, such as Sheriffs, Probation Officers, Court Clerks and First Nations Security Officers.

Program Overview

The 10-month Law Enforcement Certificate is a specialized program designed to assist students in developing the academic, interpersonal, and physical fitness skills required for the application process in a number of careers in the Justice area. We promote positive communication, integrity and teamwork. The instructors bring a combination of lived career experiences as Police and Correctional Officers, along with adult education credentials and a passion for teaching the next generation. We are well-positioned to stay abreast of the rapidly changing technology in the industry, and we are responsive to our northern communities’ increasing desire for community-focused policing.

Requirements

a. 18 years of age or older as of September 1 of the applicant year, and

b. Manitoba Senior 4 graduate, and

c. English 40S, and

d. Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S, Applied Mathematics 40S or Essential Mathematics 40S,

e. Or equivalencies of above

f. Or mature student,
