Manitoba Class 5 Driver Training
Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) and University College of the North (UCN) have partnered to increase access to driver training programming in northern Manitoba. The UCN Class 5 Driver Training Program will help create safer roads and improve workforce development in this critical area of the province by bringing affordable and accessible training into communities across the region.

What You'll Learn
- 16 hours of in-class knowledge test preparation.
- 4 hours of practical in-car lessons to prepare for road tests.
- One 1-hour lesson plus use of the fleet vehicle for your road test.
- Flexible, supportive training designed to fit your needs.
- Fleet vehicles are included for student use from the start of their lessons until they complete their road test.

Class Schedule
Fleet vehicles are included for student use after completing the following lessons:
16 hours of in-class learning.
Note: Fleet vehicles are not used during the 16-hour in-class program as students have not yet achieved their knowledge permit.
Admissions
Check Your Eligibility
Adults (18+): You must do one of the following:
- hold a Valid 5L learner’s license
- or be able to enroll in training to obtain one
- or be eligible for the MPI Knowledge Test.
Under-18 (16–17 years old):
- Must live in a community where high school driver training is not available.
- Must hold a valid Learner’s Driver’s License or be eligible for the MPI Knowledge Test.
Costs
In-Class Knowledge Test Prep – $50 + GST
In-Car Training (4 hours) – $150 + GST
5 hrs MPI Mandatory Training – $250 + GST
Class 5 Road Test Express – $75 + GST
