The UCN Mining Readiness Program, in partnership with NORCAT, gives you the skills and hands-on experience needed to step into the industry with confidence. This four-week, no-cost training combines classroom learning, virtual reality simulations, and on-site mine training to prepare you for real-world work. Graduates earn industry-recognized certifications, making them stand out to employers. Spots are limited—learn more and apply today!

Registration Deadline: March 30, 2026

4 weeks in class in Flin Flon at UCN’s Northern Manitoba Mining Academy, followed by 3 weeks at Hudbay Minerals in Snow Lake (1 week on, 1 week off rotation, dates to be determined), including on-site/underground training, including tours, job shadowing and safety training.

  • Equipment & Operations – Rock scaling, hoisting, and other essential mining tasks
  • Virtual Reality (VR) & Augmented Reality (AR) Training – Practice mining techniques in a state-of-the-art simulated environment to enhance learning and safety.
  • Mine Site Tours – Experience real mining environments, gaining firsthand insight into daily operations.
