UCN has partnered with the Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) to deliver the Mining Essentials pilot program in Flin Flon. Mining Essentials is a national work-readiness program explicitly tailored to mining. Mining Essentials is an additional three weeks, paired with Mining Readiness. Students must take this course in conjunction with the Mining Readiness Course and be available for the entire 7-week period

Application Deadline:November 7, 2025
Format:Classroom instruction, hands-on training with virtual and augmented reality.

  • Workplace Safety– Get certified in WHMIS, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platforms, and Forklift Operation to meet industry standards.
  • Equipment & Operations – Rock scaling, hoisting, and other essential mining tasks
  • Virtual Reality (VR) & Augmented Reality (AR) Training – Practice mining techniques in a state-of-the-art simulated environment to enhance learning and safety.
