UCN has been recognized as one of Manitoba’s top 25 employers for the second consecutive year! Our employees achieve remarkable things, which contributes to this recognition. To celebrate, we will continue to interview outstanding UCN employees about their roles and what makes UCN one of the best places to work in Manitoba.
Celeste Atchison’s role is front and center with students. She sometimes works with people away from their homes for the first time in their lives. Her smile and willingness to help are welcomed by all who enter her office in housing.
“UCN isn’t just a workplace; it’s a supportive environment where everyone genuinely cares about one another and about making a difference in students’ lives,” Housing Coordinator, Celeste Atchison said. “That kind of atmosphere is rare, and it’s something I deeply value.”
Celeste’s work is dedicated to promoting the well-being of students on The Pas Campus. She fosters a welcoming and supportive community where students can thrive inside and outside the classroom.
In her role, Celeste oversees student accommodations in Carroll Hall and Family Housing Units. She also monitors shared spaces, such as kitchens and lounges, to ensure they remain clean and functional. By doing so, she works closely with students to support their overall well-being during their time on campus.
Celeste says has experienced significant personal and professional growth at UCN. She acknowledges daily student interactions has enhanced her leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. She adds that her cultural awareness is deepened by connecting with diverse students transitioning to residence living. These skills and experiences have positively influenced her personal life as well.
She’s quick to mention the invaluable support of the Accommodation Clerks and others, she has formed genuine friendships at UCN.
“Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities of my role, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside coworkers who’ve become true friends—people I didn’t know I needed until I met them.”
UCN, together we shine.
