The main reason as to my desire to peruse a career in nursing is the road to diverse, endless life long opportunities. Just like some other professions, I believe that nursing is one of the many noble professions which may not only grant us the opportunity to nurse those who are sick, but also to grant us opportunities to learn about ourselves. To exemplify, there will be times during our nursing career that we will realize that we have no limit to what our passion can achieve. There will also be opportunities to work with those who have opposite opinions and thought processes than ourselves. I also believe that it would be interesting to meet many different people from unique backgrounds and learning to be adaptive to their ways of thinking without bringing judgement. Nevertheless, just like myself, I noticed that there are other students who are struggling in perusing their ambition of becoming a nurse. Hence, I would like to dedicate this poem to myself and those who maybe feeling despair on the academic path they have chosen. I hope this poem will encourage and remind us to not give up on our ambitions.
Light the Dream
Darkest nights and hopeless dreams are scary to me
Every path in my heart seems shadowy.
Should I battle or let it be?
Living the rest of life in shade.
Accept destiny or cope with uncertainty?
Only for sure what life has left for me:
Defective heart and despairing breath.
Being defeated can be the worse feeling yet,
Where there is hope, there is light to be.
I have to light my own lamp which may gleam to my desired goals.
I must believe in my self and stay determined.
The hardest ambition remains the hardest even when surrender is chosen.
Believing in myself will light that new fire,
Which will shine the way to achieve my dreams.
Everyday actions could lead towards what my heart desires.
Although it may seem difficult,
Let Your heart’s desires light your path.
Life only awards prizes to those who choose to fight.
