Ellora Reddy
Ellora Reddy started drawing from a young age. Finding inspiration from cartoons, as a child, she drew whenever she had a pencil and paper in hand. At the age of ten, she discovered digital drawings online by many artists. For the next eight years, she spent countless hours testing out different art programs on the computer to improve her skill. She finds drawing relaxing.
Ellora favors digital art over other mediums because it doesn’t need paint or space. She doesn’t need to clean up the messy studio after her drawing. In spite of her busy school work, she could still sneak to the computer and draw anything she could imagine.
Ellora Reddy is a second year student of Arts program. Finding art is a good way to express emotions and ideas visually, Ellora hopes to create her own comic drawings to share her stories with other readers.
Ellora Reddy from a young age struggled with both reading and writing. To overcome this, she turned to visual mediums such as drawing and painting to find a way to express her thoughts and frustrations on paper. For years she had to work very hard, as her mother put it “twice as hard as others,” to obtained an average comprehension of reading and writing skills. High school was a turning point for Ellora, with the use of technology. As Microsoft Word became commonly used in schools, Ellora stopped thinking of writing as a frightening concept. Now as a second year student in the Arts program, Ellora she could express herself better both in words and graphics with the help of dedicated university professors. She has started to dip her feet into the world of writing and drawing for her self-expression.
Ellora Reddy showed an interest in drawing from a young age. Throughout high school, Ellora practiced drawing on a new medium called digital art. Over the years, her skills have improved through the feedbacks she received from art competitions. In the 2018 edition of UCN sponsored Language and Arts Festival, she collaborated in a workshop session with Dr. Ying Kong. While Dr. Kong showed the students how to write a short poem to express emotions, Ellora demonstrated how to illustrate the emotional poems in pictures. During the festival, Ellora had the privilege of sharing her artistic talents with high school students. She hopes that her illustration of “I Want to Go to School” is an opportunity to further showcase her artistic talents.
