Duties

UCN is proud to partner with the Rideau Hall Foundation through the Indigenous Teacher Education Grant in support of the Special Project Coordinator position within Indigenous Initiatives and Reconciliation (IIR). This partnership reflects UCN’s commitment to advancing Indigenous education, strengthening community connections, and creating opportunities for future educators and northern communities through meaningful, community-focused initiatives. This role supports a multi-year, grant-funded initiative currently aligned with project activities through July 2029. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and alignment with project requirements.

The work will involve coordinating projects related to the Rideau Hall Foundation Indigenous Teacher Education Grant and other divisional initiatives within IIR. Responsibilities include overseeing participant intake and assessment processes, monitoring grant deliverables and budgets, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and maintaining project tracking systems and documentation. The position will also serve as a liaison between internal departments and external funding partners while supporting ongoing and emerging initiatives.

Required Qualifications

This opportunity is well suited to someone with a post-secondary education in Arts, Business, or a related field, along with project management training and 3–5 years of related experience. Strong organizational, financial management, communication, and problem-solving skills are required, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Assets

Experience in a post-secondary setting, knowledge of project management principles, and an understanding of Indigenous and northern communities would be valuable.

Conditions of Employment

This is a full-time position working 7.25 hours per day, scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Indigenous peoples have continuously maintained homelands in northern Manitoba since time immemorial. The First Nations in the area that UCN serves entered into treaty relationships with the Crown (within our region these include signatories to treaties 4, 5 — and the treaty 5 adhesion, and treaty 6 – located within the treaty 5 adhesion). The territory has also become home to other Indigenous peoples. We uphold the treaties and collaborate with all Indigenous peoples to share truth, reconciliation, and learning.
