Accommodation Procedure for Tests/Exams written in the Assessment Centre

1. Review Accommodation Requirements

  • Ensure you understand your accommodations and the specific requirements for notifying the Assessment Centre ahead of time.
  • Familiarize yourself with any deadlines or additional information related to your accommodations.
  • Please note: If you choose to take your tests and exams in the classroom, extended time accommodations are not guaranteed.

2. Prepare for the Test/Exam, and Notify the Assessment Centre

  • As soon as you know the date for your test/exam (check your syllabus and/or instructor communication), mark the date on your calendar, and contact the Assessment Centre assessment@ucn.ca.
  • The staff will send you an Invigilation Request Form. Note any specific instructions related to your accommodations (e.g. extra time, quiet room, assistive technology that need to be arranged).
  • Also note that you do not need the Dean’s signature on the form because your Letter of Accommodation is registered at the Assessment Centre.

3. Coordinate with Your Instructor One Week Before Test/Exam Date

  • Please inform your instructor that you will be taking the test/exam with accommodations at the Assessment Centre.
  • Confirm any specific arrangements that may need to be coordinated, such as the delivery of the exam materials or other resources.

4. Confirm Notification

  • After submitting your request, ensure you receive a confirmation from the Assessment Centre that your accommodations have been scheduled.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation, follow up to confirm that your request was received and processed.

5. Prepare for the Test/Exam

  • Review any additional instructions provided by the Assessment Centre, including where and when to arrive.
  • Gather any necessary materials for the test/exam (e.g., identification, approved calculators, notes, or other items as allowed).

6. Arrive on Time for the Test/Exam

  • Arrive at the Assessment Centre on time. Ensure you have allowed extra time in case there are any security or check-in procedures.
  • Bring your student ID and any other required documents or materials as outlined by the Assessment Centre.
  • Follow all guidelines and rules set by the Assessment Centre. If there are any issues or concerns, alert the staff at the Centre immediately.
