Michel Leclaire is a seasoned College Instructor at University College of the North (UCN), where he has been teaching in the Natural Resources Management Technology (NRMT) program in The Pas, Manitoba, since 2018. With a passion for molding the environmental workforce of tomorrow, Michel brings vibrancy and enthusiasm to his lectures, making learning both engaging and enjoyable. He expertly bridges the gap between new scientific developments and educational practices, helping students navigate the complexities of post-secondary education.

A registered Environmental Professional (EP®) with Eco Canada since 2018, Michel specializes in natural resource management, fisheries and wildlife, and education and training. His commitment to inspiring transformative environmental change is evident as he challenges popular perceptions and fosters a dynamic educational environment where ideas and strategies current to today’s unique conditions across northern Manitoba can flourish.

Michel's background as a wildlife and fisheries biologist fuels his deep passion for the outdoors and enriches his teaching, guiding students through all phases from study design to data collection and analysis. He emphasizes practical, hands-on learning, preparing students for real-world environmental challenges.

His leadership extends beyond the classroom as he has served as President of The Wildlife Society Manitoba Chapter and currently contributes to the Wildlife Leaders Advisory Committee. Michel also helps in the governance of the Churchill Northern Studies Centre as a member of the Board of Directors.

Michel holds a Diploma in Natural Resources Management Technology from UCN, a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, and a Master of Science from the University of Manitoba. He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching for Learning in Applied Education from Red River College.
