UCN Opens New Diploma in Practical Nursing Facilities in Flin Flon and Swan River

(Flin Flon/Swan River, MB) – University College of the North (UCN) is pleased to announce the upcoming grand openings for the new Diploma in Practical Nursing buildings in Flin Flon and Swan River, MB. These state-of-the-art facilities will provide opportunities for nursing and health care aide students in the north.

Flin Flon’s grand opening will take place on October 2nd from 11 AM to 1 PM at 68 Main Street, Flin Flon, MB. Swan River’s event will be held on October 3rd, also from 11 AM to 1 PM, at 1500 Third Street N, Swan River, MB. All community members, partners, and stakeholders are invited to join UCN for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, light refreshments, and tours of the new facilities.

“The Health Care Aide program offered in Swan River and the Diploma in Practical Nursing offered in Flin Flon and Swan River are critical programs. They hold a vital role in supporting the healthcare system in the North,” said Cindy Woodson, UCN Interim Dean of the Faculty of Health. “We opened our doors to new and returning students on September 3rd, and they’re loving the updated classrooms, study areas, and state-of-the-art simulation and skills labs.”

UCN’s new buildings feature modern classrooms, dedicated study areas, and cutting-edge simulation and skills labs. These facilities will enhance the learning experience for students and contribute to the development of highly skilled healthcare professionals in the region.

“The opening of these new facilities in Flin Flon and Swan River marks a significant milestone in UCN’s commitment to expanding access to healthcare education in northern Manitoba,” said Doug Lauvstad, UCN President and Vice-Chancellor. “These facilities will provide students with the tools and environment they need to succeed, ensuring that our region continues to develop highly skilled healthcare professionals.
