UCN Employees Awarded Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal

(Winnipeg, MB) – University College of the North’s (UCN) President and Vice-Chancellor, Doug Lauvstad and UCN’s Vice‐President of Academic and Research, Dan Smith, were awarded Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.

The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal celebrates the 70th anniversary year of Queen Elizabeth’s accession to the throne and was hosted on September 26, 2022, by Lt.-Gov. Janice Filmon and Premier Heather Stefanson.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal (Manitoba) program honours significant contributions and achievements throughout Manitoba, with a strong focus on community-mindedness, service, and reconciliation.

NOTE: Photos Attached of both Doug Lauvstad and Dan Smith’s award presentation. Dan Smith’s uniform represents his continued service as a reserve Commander in the Royal Canadian Navy. Premier of Manitoba, Heather Stefanson and Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, Janice Filmon are also pictured.
