Duties

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, Ancillary Services and Safety, the Cafeteria Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the cafeteria which includes all matters related to cafeteria operations, inventory, staffing and budgeting. This role ensures the safe and efficient delivery of food services by ensuring food quality and safety, sanitization, and adherence to safe work procedure guidelines while delivering a positive customer experience. This is a permanent position from mid-August – June annually.

Required Qualifications

• Certificate in Culinary Arts; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Mandatory Valid Food Handler’s Certificates or equivalent provincial certificates (i.e. Safe SERV, Food Safe Manitoba, etc.)
• Two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory role within food services
• Three (3) years’ experience in quantity cooking in an institution or related setting; ability to adjust recipes for volume cooking
• Knowledge of sanitation guidelines, safe work practices, procedures and relevant safety policies and legislation
• Thorough knowledge of food preparation methods, equipment operation, inventory control and budgeting
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Highly motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills
• Excellent customer service experience to work in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective time management skills
• Commitment to life-long learning

Assets

• Experience with ERP, POS and Inventory Management systems
• Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures

Conditions of Employment

• Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada
• Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including standing, walking, lifting and handling material
