Program Description
Year 1 of the Business Administration Diploma Program (Basic Business Principles Certificate) will provide students with the basic skills in business communication, introductory skills in financial and computerized accounting, marketing, and spreadsheet and database management. Students must apply to the Business Administration Diploma program with the option to exit after year one and apply to graduate with the Basic Business Principles Certificate. Class 1 Driver Training Program
Prepare for a career in professional truck driving with UCN’s 244-Hour Truck Driver Training Program. Offered in partnership with Professional Transport Driver Training School, this program provides the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to succeed in the industry.
Course Overview:
- Classroom Theory (80 hours, delivered virtually) – Gain in-depth knowledge of truck driving regulations and safety procedures.
- Practical, Observation, and In-Cab Training (160 hours) – Develop hands-on experience with real-world driving scenarios.
- Practical Testing with Manitoba Public Insurance (4 hours) – Earn industry-recognized certification to launch your career in transportation.
- Job-Ready Skills – Build the practical expertise needed to succeed in the trucking industry.

To be accepted into this program, you must meet the following prerequisites:
Minimum 18 years of age
Hold a valid full Class 5 license (Stage F)
- A valid full Class 5 driver’s license is required (authorized instruction or learner’s permit is not acceptable).
Knowledge tests/Authorized Instruction Permits (Learners)
- For a Class 1 license and air brake knowledge tests, applicants must pass the knowledge test with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) for the class of license they are applying for. This is not an open-book test, and cellular phones or electronic devices cannot be used. The knowledge test fee is $10 per test (subject to change). Only one knowledge test per class of license (Class 1 to 4) is allowed per day, but Class 1 or Air Brake knowledge tests can be retaken the next working day.

- Authorized Air Brake Permit (Learners - "I" endorsement):
Valid medical record on file with Manitoba Public Insurance
- A driver applying for a Class 1 license must file a mandatory Medical Examination Report with MPI. This report must be approved by Driver Fitness before obtaining authorized instruction. Applicants can take the Class 1 knowledge test before the Medical Examination Report is approved. The medical report is valid for six months from the date the physician completes it. Authorized instruction must be obtained within this six-month period.

Once prerequisites are met, UCN will issue a “conditional acceptance” letter for sponsorship purposes. Final acceptance is confirmed upon payment.

Class 3 Driver Training
The Class 3 Driver Training course prepares you to operate trucks with more than two axles or trucks with two axles towing vehicles over 4,540 kg. This course is ideal for those looking to enter careers as dump truck, cement truck, vacuum truck, sewer truck, or grain truck drivers. Gain the skills and knowledge needed to obtain your Class 3 license with air brake endorsement.
